There's a very important series of articles (four in all) in this week's Washington Post. They provide us with an in-depth look at our feral vice president, illustrating how he has seized control of the United States branches of government, on his march toward a totalitarian state (my opinion).

This is MUST reading for every American who gives a damn. I'll update tomorrow and the following day within this post, providing a link to each new chapter. Click here to read more.

Chapter One: A Different Understanding With the President, wherein we are told that on 9/11, in a bunker watching the horrifying collapse of the south WTC tower on television, Cheney's expression never changed. Rather, observers saw "extraordinary self-containment and a rapid shift of focus to the machinery of power. While others assessed casualties and the work of 'first responders,' Cheney began planning for a conflict that would call upon lawyers as often as soldiers and spies."

Chapter Two: Pushing the Envelope on Presidential Power, wherein Cheney labels torture robust interrogation. "Many of the harsh measures he championed, and some of the broadest principles undergirding them, have survived intact but out of public view."

Then read this excellent post by Christy Hardin Smith at Firedoglake.

Chapter Three: A Strong Push from Behind, wherein a lazy, inattentive president delegates nearly everything to Cheney, who takes that and more in order to control (among other things) the U.S. economy and Alan Greenspan.

Chapter Four: Leaving No Tracks, wherein the great outdoorsman deep-sixes the environment whenever it's good for big bidness. "Leaving no tracks" is the Dark Lord's signature modus operandi.

This is a vitally important series. PLEASE make time for these reads!

So when is the opposition party going to issue a bill of impeachment for the Vice President?

"Our ferral VP"--So instead of "ornery" the dickster is really "hornery". Persoanlly I tend more towards teh "mucho (or is it "muy"?) loco" analysis. Nothing a good firm straight jacket and rubber room to bounce around it wouldn't be able to cure.
