Sooner or later, the White House spin is gonna make America hurl. It’s that bad.
What follows is an add-on to the previous post, wherein we learned that Darth Cheney has declared himself exempt from executive branch oversight. Furthermore, since that pesky oversight agency keeps asking him for information and records, then by god, he’s going to abolish the agency. And if the agency protests, Darth will have the Justice Department rule on the whole matter.
Today, the WaPo reports that the little White House pixie Dana Perino stated that Cheney doesn’t have to submit to the same oversight as other members of the executive branch. Why? Because he is president of the Senate, and as such, “his office is not an ‘entity within the executive branch.’”
And then the capper. “This is a little bit of a non-issue. . . .The president gets to decide whether or not he (Cheney) should be treated separately, and he’s decided that he should,” Perino said.
A non- issue? The hell you say! This is bedrock. America, these people have no scruples whatsoever. None. They are playing high-stakes shell games with Congress, the courts, the Constitution and all the rest of us. Once in a while, they do it right before our eyes. And we let them. We let them!
Now it will not surprise you to learn (if you did not already know) that requests for information from Cheney’s cave have been routinely ignored since 2003. Four years of arrogance and contempt. Darth Cheney is a loose cannon, accountable to no one – least of all to his “boss” (bwahahahaha), the prez. Yes, the very one who says it's okay for Darth to be accountable to no one. And by the way, heckuva job, Darth.
If Congressional "leaders" lack cojones, one of them has a quaint sense of humor:
- Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-Ill.) said he plans to propose next week, as part of a spending bill for executive operations, a measure to place a hold on funds for Cheney's office and official home until he clarifies to which branch of the government he belongs. Emanuel acknowledged that the proposal is just a stunt, but he said that if Cheney is not part of the executive branch, he should not receive its funds. "As we say in Chicago, follow the money.”
I say follow the smell. The stench of Cheney has permeated every aspect of government, justice, human rights and civil rights. Rove is a rotting red herring, which sometimes makes the Cheney trail harder to follow. But I am convinced that Cheney’s damaged heart is truly the heart of darkness.
Put impeachment back on the table, Nancy. On this, Kucinich is right. You need to have his back and so do we. I am so not kidding about this.
