Scooter Libby:

The jury speaks.

Charges one, two, four, and five: GUILTY.

Charge three: not guilty.

More as soon as we come down from Big High!

Is that all there is?

No, Peter, there's more, as surely you know. Now, make light of it all you like -- har-dee-har, he got convicted of lying about a crime that (you say) didn't happen -- he nevertheless got convicted of lying under oath and obstructing justice, not such small potatoes. Do you remember how your side all went berzerk when the only thing the Whitewater investigation could uncover was a lie about a blow job? And while a blow job between consenting adults is not a crime, blowing a CIA operative's cover is, and to lie about your part in it carries a little more --heft.

It was also interesting that the jurors felt sorry for Scooter, and felt he was the fall guy for his phlegmatic boss, and wondered why Karl Rove wasn't charged with something. Hmm.

Clearly there was much more afoot here.

However, I doubt that the Scooter will ever do a minute of hard time and I think he knows it too, thus the emotionless repsonse to the verdict. The request for a new trial and other appeals will drag on -- more of a nuisance for him than anything else -- and by then it'll be around January, 2009, and the Idiot-in-Chief will be decamping back to his village in Texas and handing out those departure day pardons.
I mean, if I were Dick Cheney, and I did commit the crime, that's how I might have -- let Scooter take the fall.

I ask again. s that all there is?

A DC Jury and a lead juror that can't wait to get to a camera. Come on-Is that what you hoped for all this while?

Babs (not verified) | March 7, 2007 - 10:25am

No, Peter, we were expecting a blue dress and a cigar.

Perjury. Obstruction of justice. Lie upon lie upon lie. Coverups. Deceit of Congress and the American people, built on this particular lie. Iraq war. Hundreds of thousands dead. American lives sacrificed for George and Dick's Excellent Adventure. Be sure to read the Requiem post below this one. Name by name, Peter. Connect the dots.

I hope that Scooter has the cajones to blow the whistle on this caper. It is the proverbial tip of the iceberg. And, to mix metaphors, the house of cards is falling down. May already be too little, too late, but it's happening.

Oh come on Babs, that is drivel and you know it. Wishing for something does not make it true. Nice try though.

Babs (not verified) | March 7, 2007 - 12:39pm

See Peter. See Peter stir the pot. See Peter posing as a crude conservative. See Peter snigger about his/her little ruse. Laugh, Peter, laugh. Bwahahahahahaha!

Peter (not verified) | March 7, 2007 - 11:16pm

What the hell was that? -Meds? or lack of?

susan | March 7, 2007 - 11:39pm

Peter, you're crossing the line into idiocy and annoyance. I, who supported your participation, am wearying of your nonsense. Shape up, eh?

Peter (not verified) | March 8, 2007 - 12:52pm

Thanks for your support. If you kick me out (my house has many rooms, though) you will have to figure out what Babs is saying all by yourself.
