Plague descending

Woke up this morning feeling kinda . . . creepy. "By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes." Whoa. Then I remembered.

Karl Rove is coming to Minnesota today. To raise money for Michele (Looking for My Shoe) Bachmann. Michele is a pice de travail. Homophobe extraordinaire. Flies exclusively with her right wing. A perfect Republican candidate for congress, in other words. Oh. She's running against Patty Wetterling, a petite powerhouse who has become a compelling political activist in the years since her son Jacob went missing.

Rove will appear in daylight hours, putting to rest once and for all the vampire thing. I would really like to see him do his thing. But that's not possible. Whereas the Democrats fuss and fume and fundraise in a very public way, Republican activities are shrouded in secrecy. Democrats need not approach. The public need not approach. Usually, the press need not approach. One must have the face of Dubya tattooed on one's right cheek (you know which one) and swear an oath of allegiance to gain entry.

So whaddaya suppose they do at Republican fundraisers? Think Macbeth. They gather round the cauldron, massage each other's shoulders and bless their financial advisors. Eye of Newt is harder to come by now that he's running. But snakes are in great supply. They laugh at Democrats (we give them a lot of material), praise the First Decider and sing all the verses of "Jesus Loves Me, but He's Not Crazy about You." They are not allowed to leave until they've flung a chunk of disposable income into the pot.

Yup, Rove's here, all right. Feels kinda . . . creepy.
