Time to undo the blue

Progressives? We have work to do. Earlier today, 57 principled progressives in the U.S. House of Representatives took a stand against obstructionist Republicans and Blue Dogs, who generally speaking are not Democrats. The 57 signed a letter saying they will not vote for the Blue Dogs' compromise legislation.

Did you ever catch yourself saying, "Well, I just don't know how to make a difference in all of this!" Guess what?! You can!! Click for the rest.

Here's what I did.

First, I contacted the office of Keith Ellison, who is the only Minnesota Representative among the 57, to thank him for taking on leadership re health care legislation.

Then I left word for the following Minnesota Representatives, expressing disappointment that their names are not among the 57, and urging them to join the progressives in this principled stand. And I told them that the reason I am contacting them is that living as I do in CD2, I do not have a representative. I have John Kline. Therefore, I need to turn elsewhere for someone to represent me.

If you can, please do. If not, thanks for reading and pondering. And if you're not a Minnesotan, please contact your own state reps. They need to hear from us in large numbers!

Over and out for now.

UPDATE: The ever-amazing Max Baucus, the Blue Dogs alpha male, is having his staffers tell callers that Baucus doesn't need to listen to people who don't live in Montana. Hmmm. So, like, no lobbyists, then, right? No outstate donors? And of course, no possible chance of running for higher office. This man needs to hear from us, too.
